The PXB-Cells® Production and Transplantation Unit produces cultured PXB-Cells® (freshly isolated human hepatocytes) for distribution upon clients’ request. In addition, this unit performs and oversees the transplantations of human hepatocytes to generate PXB mice – cDNA-uPA/scid chimeric mice with highly humanized liver.

PXB-Cells® Production Technologist

KMT Hepatech, Inc., a member of PhoenixBio Group, provides in vivo research services to companies who are in development of Hepatitis C (HCV), Hepatitis B (HBV), and malaria therapeutics and vaccines, as well as studies of toxicity, drug and lipoprotein metabolism.

KMT Hepatech is undergoing a facility expansion and is currently seeking additional staff members for the PXB-Cells® Production and Transplantation Unit. The PXB-Cells® Production and Transplantation Unit produces cultured PXB-Cells® (freshly isolated human hepatocytes) for distribution upon request. In addition, this unit performs and oversees the transplantations of human hepatocytes to generate PXB mice.

The candidate(s) should hold a B.Sc. and/or M.Sc. degree in a relevant field and should have some experience working within an animal-based research environment. The hired staff will be responsible for preparing media and surgical stations and will also be responsible for maintaining and decontamination of the clean room facility. In addition, new personnel will be trained in the perfusion and transplantation surgical procedure; however, most surgical procedures will be performed by the senior staff members until the new staff can produce a product that meets the quality standards. The ideal candidate(s) should also have some experience in diagnostic assays performance, animal handling/breeding and working within a clean room environment.

This is a full-time position, located in Edmonton, Alberta and compensation is commensurate with education and experience. Blue Cross Health and Dental benefits are available following a six month probationary period.
